Horse Racing Betting - An Exciting Way To Spend Free Time

Horse racing betting is an exciting way to spend a Saturday afternoon at the horse racing track. For those of you who have never bet on horse racing, there are a few things that you should know to help you along your way.

The whole idea of the bet is to win by beating the odds, which are fixed by someone known as the Oddsmaker or otherwise as the Odds Compiler. The way to place your bet is through Sports Books, either physically, or online. Please note that the Oddsmakers set the betting odds, whereas your Sports Books simply accepts the bet you place.

There are a number of ways to bet, the most common being the straight or single bet. The only way to win is if the horse that you have chosen crosses first over the finish line. Place means that you can take winnings if your chosen horse crosses the finish line in either first or second place.

The Show Bet is a placed so that your pick can finish first, second or third and still win you money on the bet. Things start getting more complex as you move along to the next option which is the Combination Bet, which gives the option of choosing between two and four horses to win in a specific order.

A person will choose the Pick 3 as an option if they wish to pick the winning horse in three consecutive races. Pick 6 is a similar concept, allowing the person betting to pick the winners of six consecutive races. Some racetracks give the option to pick from the first set of six races, the middle set of six races and the last set of six races.

The Quiniela or the Reverse Forecast is a UK concept offering the option to choose the winning or second place horses in two consecutive races in any order. Conversely, the Exacta or Straight Forecast gives the betting man or woman the option to pick two horses that must finish the race in exact order.

The Tricast, Trifecta or Treble Forecast option allows the person to bet on the first 3 horses to cross the finish line in the specified order. If you place a Superfecta bet, you would choose four horses to cross the finish line in a specific order. winners can be chosen before the daily races start. If you still think that horse race betting is easy, you are in for a surprise!. The Jackpot betting option allows you to choose six winners to give you the chance to share in the jackpot prize for that day.

Parlay or Accumulator betting will allow you to place simultaneous bets on two or more races for that chosen day. Future betting is made on upcoming races that have not yet been run. This will most likely vary depending on the racetrack you are betting at.
